The Penthouse was created for cats who enjoy plenty of room, families of cats holidaying together and guests whose tastes have always leaned towards the extravagant. It also reflects something that has been part of Hotel for Cats since the beginning: the belief that cats deserve a genuine holiday of their own.

Why did we create Penthouses for cats?
Hotel for Cats began with the idea that owners should not have to feel guilty about leaving their cat in a small enclosure while they travelled.
From the beginning, our rooms were designed to give cats privacy, space and places to climb and relax. As the hotel grew, we continued looking for ways to take that experience further.
The Penthouse level is one result. We turned the bedrooms of a former human apartment into some of the largest and most generously equipped rooms in the hotel.
The remaining part of the apartment is used by our team for breaks and meetings. This means Penthouse guests often have the gentle background presence of familiar humans nearby, along with visits from their feline butlers throughout the day.
The Clowder Penthouse
The Clowder Penthouse is the largest room at Hotel for Cats. At approximately 4.5 metres by 3.9 metres, it is comparable in size to a generously proportioned human bedroom.
There is room to explore, climb, play and stretch out without having to choose just one favourite spot.

The large windows provide views towards the church and neighbouring gym. Cats can watch people arriving and leaving, inspect the activity below or settle into the double catio for a closer look at the outside world.

Why is it called the Clowder Penthouse?
A clowder is a group or family of cats.
The room is particularly well suited to cats from the same household because there is enough space for them to enjoy one another’s company while still choosing separate places to sleep and relax.
Cats from different households are never mixed at Hotel for Cats. The Clowder Penthouse is reserved for an individual cat or cats from the same family who already live happily together.

The Terrace Penthouse
The Terrace Penthouse is another wonderfully generous room, measuring approximately 10.4 square metres.
Large windows fill the suite with natural light and offer a view towards the church. The private window catio gives guests a secure place to sit close to the glass and watch what is happening outside.

The real advantage of a Penthouse is not simply its size. It is the number of choices it gives a cat throughout the day.
A guest can climb when they feel energetic, retreat to the bed for a long nap, watch the world from a window or take up position inside the catio. Cats from the same family can choose whether to stay close together or enjoy their own corners.
That freedom can be particularly valuable during longer bookings, when a cat has more time to explore the room and develop favourite places for different parts of the day.

The climbing furniture, windows, catios and wheels are not there simply because they look impressive. They give guests opportunities to use natural feline behaviours during their stay.
An adventurous cat may move between the bed, shelves and cat wheel throughout the day. A quieter guest might find the perfect window position and happily spend hours following activity outside.
Our team also offers play and individual attention according to each cat’s personality. Some Penthouse guests are eager to play and make friends immediately. Others prefer a slower introduction and a little quiet company before they decide a smooch is acceptable.

Personal care on the Penthouse level
The Penthouses may be exceptional rooms, but it is the care within them that completes the stay.
Before arrival, we ask about each cat’s food, routine, personality and health needs. Our team then gets to know the guest behind the booking, including the kind of attention they enjoy and how they usually behave at home.
Throughout the stay, we monitor eating, drinking, toileting and behaviour. Because every room is private, meals and daily care can be managed around the individual cat or family of cats staying there.
Hotel for Cats also operates alongside Blakehurst Vet, with a full veterinary clinic on the premises. If something causes concern, veterinary expertise is close at hand.
Updates from the top floor
Every stay includes one complimentary weekly photo or video update with a written summary.
The Penthouse rooms provide no shortage of possible scenes. Your update may feature your puddycat stretched across the bed, testing the cat wheel, sitting inside the catio or gazing through the window as though they own the building.
Additional updates can be arranged if required.

Hotel for Cats is located in Blakehurst and welcomes guests from Hurstville, St George, the Sutherland Shire and across Sydney.
